At Two Mules SoapTM we hand blend our all natural soaps with natural ingredients to create a wide array of handmade soap and skin care products that are delightful to the senses. Oils produced by the skin are the best moisturizers you have available. Excess oil can be removed by soap and cleansers, but if the pH of your soap is too high, you could be leaving your skin dry and damaged. Two Mules SoapTM Company carefully calculates and measures all ingredients so that our natural soaps have a pH as close to neutral as possible, so as to clean your skin but not harm it. Two Mules SoapTM Company uses combinations of olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil, castor oils, and cocoa butter. We formulate our recipes so that our bars are moisturizing, lather great, and smell great. Our vegetable based soaps are made by hand in small batches, using what is called the "cold process method". This method allows the soap to retain the natural glycerin created during the production process. Most commercial companies remove glycerin from soap for use in other cosmetic products. At Two Mules SoapTM, we find the emollient effects of glycerin to be quite delightful! Two Mules SoapTM uses no animal fats, which are found in most commercial soaps. We use no extra chemicals to enhance the slow reaction speed when making natural soap, or to increase the soap's lathering capabilities. It takes three to four weeks for the reaction to be completed. The resulting exceptional bar, enhanced by our combinations of essential and fragrance oils, along with dried herbs and herbal extracts, is the ultimate treat for your skin!
Two Mules Soap Company Founding
The summer of 1995 Denise and Sherry, (daughter and mother), attended a Garlic Festival at Green Horizon’s Farm in Bloomsburg, Pa. Many vendors were demonstrating how to create their craft and SOAP MAKING caught their attention. Watching intensely, at end of the demo, they glanced at one another, commenting “Hey, we can do that!”
They experienced a lot of joy over the next six months researching the skin care products and properties of different ingredients, creating recipes, and producing many batches of soap. They got hooked and wanted to continue to refine products. With stockpiles of soap and escalating credit card bills, their husband’s gave them an ultimatum, stop making soap, or start selling it! Obviously the option to stop making soap wasn’t very appealing so now here we are!
Why the Name - Two Mule?
Attempting to name the company was not easy. Every name seemed to sound like another company already established…
Driving thru Ohio – Denise and her husband saw two mules standing in a field. Jokingly he said, “That’s you and your mom, you should name your company Two Mules Soap”. They laughed and dismissed it. About six months later however it was decided to embrace the name following the philosophy that if you can’t have fun – then don’t do it, and Two Mules SoapTM Company was established!
Some folks find the Name comical; however, we believe Mules are very misunderstood.

Over the years Sherry and Denise continued to pour their love for soapmaking into every batch made. During 2020 Sherry decided it was time to retire and Denise always had said she didn’t want to do this without mom. My name is Lauren and I had been a customer of their products practically since the start. I feel so so blessed that in 2021 these wonderful originators have trained me how to create these products. Furthermore, I feel honored that somewhere during this time I affectionately was dubbed the third mule. I don’t want to confuse anything though, so name will not be changing. In fact since taking over ownership on April 1st, 2021, (no joke), - there have been no plans to change the product line … just want to continue the Two Mules Tradition. One thing you might notice is that you may not see me around at as many shows as you had Sherry and Denise - but you can always reach out about the Two Mules line of products via our online form, email or call / text to stay in touch & orders can be placed for product here on this site.
